On the verge of the end of my Bachelor’s Degree, I comprehend the opportunities I have, and the challenges that lie ahead of me. I realize that I stand on the threshold of a career, a career that has to be fascinating and intellectually stimulating, and a career that helps me in realizing my ambitions.

“The profession of an Engineer is unique in the sense that it is he or she who transforms the complex phenomena of nature into practical use to mankind.” It is this thought which interested me towards the field of Engineering.

As the first step towards fulfilling my dream, I chose Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my major subjects. These subjects stimulated in me the interest and enthusiasm for a career in Science and Technology. This made my path clear for choosing Engineering as my career at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, one of the most reputed Universities in the nation.

During my Undergraduate studies I had a very good understanding of all core areas as well as enthusiasm to pursue subjects which are of special interest to me. The fields of Data Structures, Software Engineering, Formal Language & Automata Theory, Operating Systems, VLSI Design, Network Security, Data Communications and Computer Networks, Object Oriented Programming, Data Base Management Systems, Web Technologies, Software Testing Methodologies have appealed to me tremendously. In order to prepare myself for Graduate studies I chose Cloud Computing and Information Retrieval Systems as my electives. I did my Mini project in “Automatic Segmentation of Scaling in 2D Psoriasis Skin” and my final year project is “Analysis of Dimension Reduction Algorithm on Hyperspectral Remote Sensing Data” which was well appreciated by all of our lecturers. My knowledge of computers can hardly be undermined. My work is based on programming languages like C, C++, JAVA, and Core JAVA. I feel the Undergraduate education I have received provided me with an excellent foundation in theoretical aspects of Computer Science. My performance in laboratory courses has been very good which shows my strong capability of being a good programmer as well as an excellent cognizant, which is very essential to be a pioneer in research field. I used to Organize and participate in many cultural and inter-college symposiums.

My propensity for research and insatiable thirst for knowledge and my ambition urged me to proceed further and do Graduation in Computer Science. An Undergraduate course, though comprehensive in its curriculum, provides limited scope for specialization. Much of the integration of the advanced technologies in any demanding field takes place in a graduate program because of the flexibility incorporated in its learning system, its infrastructure, the intense interaction with the industry and exposure to the latest technology. I feel that American Universities provide better facilities for research compared to other Universities worldwide. These things encouraged me to pursue graduation in an American University. I am sure that exposure to these kinds of diverse influences would aid in the overall development of my personality, I also believe that I have better chances of updating and scaling my knowledge in George Mason University.

I have always believed in giving something back to the society. Success isn’t just about what you accomplish in your life, it’s about what you inspire others to do. I was lucky enough to be a part of “Street Cause” (NGO) for two years where I have been spreading the knowledge of health and awareness amongst the underprivileged. Though I joined as a volunteer, my effortless work made me a coordinator. I was coordinating a team of six members in order to accomplish our goals for a healthier society. I was also awarded the best coordinator in our department.

The George Mason University (GMU) is the best university for a Computer Science major as it offers many core areas for development and research purpose. I felt that studying at George Mason University will expand my knowledge greatly and give me the opportunity to gain an advantage in today’s competitive and global world. George Mason University offers the flexibility needed for such a vast and rapid changing field. The research facilities and the department at the university are excellent. My interest in networks and artificial intelligence had begun to take an impact on the present day technology as it was modifying swiftly.  Therefore, studying in GMU with a computer science major will guide me to earn my dream job as a software engineer in a reputed company.

I am looking forward to experience such emotions during my study at George Mason University. Hence, I request that my application be considered for admission. I strongly feel that I can match the high standards of the University and contribute fruitfully to the research endeavors at George Mason University.
